ABOUT GATEWAY
When facing cancer, nothing is more important than time. Gateway for Cancer Research finds, funds and furthers groundbreaking early phase clinical trials for all types of cancer affecting men, women and children. As the first step in evaluating new cancer treatments, these research studies give patients more time, better quality of life and the healing power of HOPE. With 100% of all donations directly funding clinical research, Gateway delivers on a promise that its work is always and only about the patient.
OUR PATIENTS
Greg and Spencer are part of a groundbreaking clinical trial at Duke University, where Dr. Nicholas DeVito is pushing the boundaries of cancer care. The BB-OPCO study is testing next-gen immunotherapy—botensilimab and balstilimab—before colorectal cancer has a chance to spread. There’s real HOPE for moving past the usual chemo and giving patients safer treatment options.
Dr. Kelly Bolton at Washington University is leading this first-of-its-kind prevention study. What makes it special isn’t just the science – it’s how patients can participate from home, making it easier to reach cancer patients where they are.
John was diagnosed with glioblastoma and given 16 months to live. He joined a Gateway-funded clinical trial led by Dr. Yoshie Umemura, now at Barrow Neurological Institute. Now 29 months post-diagnosis, John is a long-term survivor who credits the trial with saving his life.
Valerie is participating in a Gateway funded trial which has given her more time with her family and improved her quality of life as their fight continues.
Mia battled Leukemia and is approaching her 5-year, cancer free date! We celebrate Mia and all she has done to make sure others have better options to mitigate the long-term side effects standard treatment can cause in children.
