Gateway for Cancer Research to Announce Significant Funding Opportunity at Gateway to Hope Event

RECEPTION SHOWCASES NEW PARTNERSHIP TO ADVANCE INNOVATIVE CLINICAL TRIAL RESEARCH

CHICAGO, IL
– Gateway for Cancer Research (Gateway), a non-profit organization dedicated to funding transformational cancer research, will host “Gateway to Hope,” an annual reception held in conjunction with the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 2, from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm at the Ritz-Carlton Chicago.

Featured speakers include Maurie Markman, MD, President of Medicine & Science at Cancer Treatment Centers of America® and Cynthia J. Wetmore, MD, Division Chief of the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s Hospital, who will  be shining a light on an exciting new trial initiated by her team to fight a rare pediatric cancer.

“We are excited to host the second annual Gateway for Hope reception in conjunction with the ASCO Annual meeting, where we will announce a major new funding opportunity and celebrate the pioneering research underway by renowned investigators around the world making a real difference for those facing cancer,” said Michael Burton, interim president at Gateway for Cancer Research. “Gateway is proud to be funding cancer research today so patients, their families and loved ones have more tomorrows.”

During the reception Gateway will be announcing a novel funding initiative in scientific partnership with Conquer Cancer, the ASCO Foundation that will further help talented researchers obtain the vital funds needed to conduct research that leads to the discovery of new cancer treatments. With this new grant program, Gateway will be poised to have an even more significant impact on cancer breakthroughs benefiting courageous patients worldwide.
